This wide-ranging expertise contributes significantly to the effectiveness of the committee.

Committee members:

Tony Goom — President

I have lived in Northwood since 1933. My career was in the Ready To Wear Industry where I held a position of General Manager and Director of the UK subsidiary of a leading continental multinational company.

I have served on the Executive committee of the NRA since the early 1970s and was elected vice president at the 2004 AGM, and president at the 2006 AGM. My major responsibility was as Chief Road Steward where I was instrumental in targeting new areas of Northwood to increase our membership. I have taken a keen interest in the preservation of the Green Belt land and was involved with the NRA in assisting Riverside Sporting Club to purchase the Park Farm Estate, one of the most valuable local areas of Green Belt.

Leonard Hall — Vice President

Has been on the NRA Committee for many years covering a number of jobs from editing the Newsletter to stepping in as Chairman when it seemed that no-one else would take up the role. Has worked hard to support the work of the medical/hospital scene, especially struggling over many years to maintain Mount Vernon Hospital. Though one of our older members, Leonard remains an active Vice President.

Colin Harris — Chairman

Born in 1938 in North London I attended grammar school and later Durham University, then worked as a General Dental Practitioner (NHS) from 1963-1996 and thereafter as a clinical researcher at Kings College Hospital until 2004. I have been a resident of Northwood since 1969 and am married with three grown up children. My local interests include Ruislip / Northwood Rotary Club and am past captain of Pinner Cricket Club, wider interests include rugby and soccer. I was elected NRA Chairman in 2006.

Miles Gillman — Vice Chairman

Having lived in Northwood all my life, and now with my own family, I am keen that the area's unique character is not eroded away.

David Wilson - Treasurer

Born a Yorkshireman in 1946 I attended grammar school and subsequently qualified as a chartered accountant. We, my wife and 3 children, moved to Northwood in 1989 after a number of years in the Middle East. I now work in the City in the insurance industry. I volunteered to act as Treasurer in December 2007 and have enjoyed meeting the hard working and dedicated committee and road stewards of the NRA. I firmly believe that it is only by our representational influence that we can preserve the rare qualities of our home town.

Sue Boultbee — Chief Road Steward

Married, with 5 children, have lived in Northwood for nearly 20 years. I feel strongly that we must try and keep Northwood a safe, clean and friendly place to live, and that the NRA can help to achieve this by taking positive action where necessary. As Chief Road Steward it is my role to ensure that we have a full complement of Road Stewards to distribute our Newsletter to as many residents as possible.
