Mount Vernon Urgent Care Centre: UPDATE

Posted on

We have an update from David Simmonds MP regarding the closure of the Nurse Practitioner Urgent Care Centre at Mount Vernon Hospital.  He says:

Dear Resident,

Yesterday (15th July), the NHS Trust responsible for Mount Vernon Hospital confirmed its plans to close the Urgent Care Centre. This is a decision that will directly impact thousands of people across our community.

This is a deeply concerning announcement. I know many of you will be as alarmed as I am. Over 13,000 local residents have already signed the petition calling for the Centre to be saved, and I want to assure you that this fight is far from over.

This morning, I will join neighbouring MPs in submitting an Urgent Question to the Speaker of the House of Commons. We want this matter raised on the floor of Parliament at the earliest possible opportunity.

We will not take this lying down. While the NHS Trust may have made the announcement, it is ultimately the Labour Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, who has the power to intervene and stop the closure. He must now take responsibility and act.

I am working closely with Gagan Mohindra MP, Joy Morrissey MP and Oliver Dowden MP to press for urgent answers and push for a reversal of the decision. The closure will place further pressure on already stretched A&E services and risk leaving communities across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and North West London without accessible urgent care.

The campaign to save Mount Vernon’s Urgent Care Centre now enters a critical new phase. I encourage everyone who supports the effort to make their voice heard.
