Eastbury Residents' Association
The primary objectives of the Association are to further the common interests of members as local residents, to safeguard the residential character of Eastbury and to preserve or improve local amenities.
The membership area comprises all roads bounded by the Herts / Middlesex county boundary to the south, Kewferry Road to the west, Moor Park estate and Sandy Lodge Golf course to the north, Watford Road/Sandy Lane to the east including The Woods & Oxhey Drive. The area under the control of HM Forces is excluded.
The Federation of Metropolitan Line Users' Committees (FOMLUC)
FOMLUC meets with Met Line management several times a year to discuss all kinds of service issues. One of the main topics of discussion is the problem of the poor running of Watford trains compared to Uxbridge ones at certain times. There is a particular problem between the evening peak hours of 1800 and 1900 when it is quite common to have 3 Uxbridge trains and an Amersham one between Watford trains.
The new timetable being introduced in December is supposed to address these issues. FOMLUC has asked Met Line management to make sure staff step in when there is one Uxbridge train after another and divert one of them to Watford, but logistical difficulties seem to make this almost impossible to achieve.
The other main bone of contention is the lack of information to passengers on trains and stations about disruption to the service. This is particularly frustrating when the automatic announcement is telling them that “there is a good service on the Metropolitan Line”. Newly-introduced communication systems should improve this as it now possible for staff to know the position of each train in the system and for the control room to communicate with all train drivers and station staff.
You can now see, via the internet, departure boards which provide information about the next 3 trains due to arrive at a station by logging on to www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/livetravelnews/departureboards.
