A dedication sculpture by award-winning artist and garden designer, Jeni Cairns, has been installed at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre in Northwood. The centre treats patients from Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and north London.
Personalised, hand-crafted, engraved metal leaves or 3D blossoms can be purchased as a dedication to a loved one or to mark a special occasion and installed on the metal sculpture which is located by the centre’s fern garden.
Jeni won awards for her gardens at the Harrogate Flower Show in 2011, 2012 and 2013. She also won gold and best summer garden at RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival in 2014 and was awarded gold and best in show at their 2016 event. Jeni was also commissioned to create a float for the Queen’s platinum jubilee parade in London this year.
Jeni said: “I chose to represent hawthorn with the sculpture as there is a lot of hawthorn around the centre and it’s interesting for a sculpture because the leaves come out and then the blossom.
“The leaves and blossoms will be available be in copper, stainless steel and corten steel which rusts beautifully. You pick the words you want engraved and it is then installed on the sculpture.”
Joe Dunster, fundraising manager at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, said: “The sculpture is a wonderful opportunity for supporters, patients and staff to remember or celebrate a loved one who has been treated at the centre.”
