Hillingdon Council has made the decision to close Northwood Library temporarily from Saturday 30th September 2023 to carry out extensive building surveys. This means that Friday 29th September is the last day the library will be open; they close at 5pm.
They say, “As regular library visitors will already be aware, the building has had some slow progressing structural issues which the council has been closely monitoring.
“A survey was recently conducted, with the results this week highlighting that more intrusive surveys are now required to examine its subsidence and the building will need to be closed to facilitate this. There is no reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) in the building.
“While the surveys are underway, residents will be able to use nearby Northwood Hills Library, which will extend its opening hours. It is only 1.2 miles away and one stop along on the Metropolitan tube line or a short journey via the 282 or H11 bus.”
