Shuttle Bus Service between Mount Vernon and Hillingdon Hospitals
Following intervention by NRA Chairman, Tony Ellis, we have confirmation that staff and patients of The Hillingdon Hospital Trust can use the Shuttle Bus service. Staff have priority over patients. We received this statement from Steve Wedgwood, Director of Operational Estates & Facilities, The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust:
“I can confirm that there is no issue with patients of the Trust using the minibus to travel between the sites. The only requirement would be for them to have some evidence of the need to travel on the bus to access services such as an appointment letter for example. Staff using the service are also asked to provide their staff ID.
“I think the misunderstanding may have arisen as there have been restrictions to some people using the service that shouldn’t be using it ie the general public (not using our Trust services) and contractors. Following problems with staff in particular getting space on the bus at peak times, the service lead undertook passenger audits and identified that some members of the general public were using the bus as well as contractors.
“Trust staff, people carrying out Trust business and patients (and their escort if they need one) are not prevented from using the minibus and can carry on using it – although space will always be at a premium as it is a 16-seater so there can’t always be a guarantee of a seat each time.”
