This year’s Remembrance Service was held at the War Memorial on Sunday 10th November. A large crowd of residents came together to remember and pay tribute to those who have died for their country in conflicts around the world, especially in the two World Wars. The service was led by Rev Tim Meathrel, Vicar of Emmanuel Church, who was supported by other local religious leaders. Wreaths were laid by representatives of numerous local organisations; Vice President, Valerie Mellor, laid one on behalf of Northwood Residents’ Association.
Maxwell Road was closed to traffic and those laying wreaths gathered in the War Memorial area, while members of the public stood opposite on the Green Lane pavement and in Maxwell Road. For the two-minutes silence, attendees moved into the road to close Green Lane at both ends.
Thanks to all those who helped to organise both this event and Northwood’s Poppy Appeal.
