At a meeting of the North Planning Committee on Thursday 26th August, councillors refused developer’s proposals to demolish a pair of semi-detached houses at 30-32 Chester Road and build a 24 – bed nursing home. Similar houses, 34 and 36-38, have already been demolished and replaced with nursing homes.
Local residents submitted 6 petitions protesting against the development and Cllr Richard Lewis also spoke against. Council officers also recommended refusal.
Developers continue their assault on many of the fine buildings left in Northwood and we must strongly resist their efforts. Northwood Residents’ Association will do everything in its power to stop this unsightly and unwanted development and we hope that all residents will support us in this endeavour.
