The Annual General Meeting of the Association was held on March 15th at the Oaklands Gate Methodist Church with approximately ninety members attending. Chairman Tony Ellis welcomed members and guests and then reviewed the Association’s efforts over the past year reporting on specific milestones in Planning, Environment, Traffic and Highways activities etc. He specifically noted the efforts to encourage local Businesses to join the Association. David Blowers then reviewed the accounts for the year ending 31st Dec 2010, reporting a healthy year with some £731 being added to our reserves. David recommended a minimum of £2 per household and a fixed rate of £10 per business as the suscription for 2011.
Association Officers for the 2011 year were voted in on a show of hands, these being – Tony Ellis (Chairman), Miles Gilman (Vice Chairman), David Blowers (Treasurer) and Chris Rogers (Hon. Auditor).
The following individuals were elected as members of the Executive Committee.
Anna Davis, Lisa Maclay, Jayesh Patel, Rachel Owen, Malcolm Ruddock, Freda Kosmin and Marie-Francoise Meyer.
Alan Prue was re-elected President of the Association and Vallerie Mellor was elected Vice President in recognition of her long and valued service on the Executive Committee.
Both President and Chairman noted the loss of several members of the Executive Committee this year and urged Association members to consider offering their services as either Executive Committee members or Road Stewards. Anyone interested should contact any member of the Committee.
Following the business section of the meeting Cmdr Andre van der Kamp and Lt. Cmdr Klara Schellekens of the Royal Netherlands Navy based at the Northwood NATO Base gave an excellent presentation on the various operational groups based there and the type of work undertaken.
The meeting was attended by Cllrs. Seaman-Digby and Melvin who noted that there will be a Councillors’ Forum at Northwood Golf Club on Thursday 31st March at 7.00pm.
