As part of Hillingdon Borough’s commemoration of the centenary of the First World War, poppy seeds have been sown at various sites including Northwood Recreation Ground in Chestnut Avenue. The work was done by Uxbridge army cadets who sowed a total area of 10,000 m2 with a mix of Flanders poppies and Golden Coreopsis seeds. The flowers are now blooming; they make a stunning sight.
