REN Scouts Chilly Start to 2016

Posted on

Ruislip Eastcote Northwood Scouts have started off 2016 with their annual Chilly Goat Challenge, which was attended by over 80 members aged between 10 and 15.

This year’s theme was “Up in the Air” and activity bases throughout the two days saw the Scouts making and flying model hot air balloons and drinks can aeroplanes, attempting a simulated casualty rescue from a mountainside, learning semaphore, launching water-powered rockets and many others.  Conditions were more wet and muddy than chilly, but everyone had a good time despite the regular downpours!

The District has also just welcomed a new District Commissioner, Stephen Plume, who has been involved in local Scouting since joining as a Cub nearly 30 years ago.  He commented “I would like to thank Leo Mindel for all that he’s done during his time as DC, it will be a challenge to follow in his footsteps.  I look forward to working with all the leaders across the District to continue the growth of Scouting and I hope to see lots of the Scouts who survived the mud this weekend going on to complete their Scout and DofE Awards in the next few years.”
