Northwood Station Development: NRA chairman comments

Posted on

Following the drop-in events held in October, our chairman, Tony Ellis, gives us his personal view:

I left the Consultation feeling very uneasy having been told that there would be fewer station parking places, that five storeys high was not high-rise, the whole of the current car park would be flats, most of the flats would be one or two beds and little provision made for families.

Northwood needs affordable housing for young professional families who are trying to get on the housing ladder. We need our policemen, teachers and nurses to live locally.

I was also told that considerable savings have been made on the original plans from which I surmised that we will end up with a dense development of high-rise flats, the result being a miniature Harrow-like centre with a few shops which will, no doubt, be too expensive for our current traders to occupy.

Now we have to wait and see what plans evolve. I urge you all to take part in the next consultation and make your views known.
