Complementary Therapists Needed

Posted on

Mount Vernon Cancer Centre Seeks Experienced Volunteer Complementary Therapists. Are you an experienced aromatherapist, reflexologist, massage therapist or relaxation/yoga teacher?  Would you be interested helping people going through cancer treatment at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre?

We offer complementary therapies in the Cancer Centre because we know they help reduce stress and help patients cope better with some of the symptoms and side effects of cancer and its treatments.

We have a committed group of complementary therapy volunteers who offer short therapy sessions to in-patients on the ward and out- patients in our chemotherapy suite.
Volunteer therapists tell us they benefit from:
•    Specialist training in complementary therapies and cancer care
•    Increased knowledge of cancer and more confidence to work with people affected by cancer
•    Being part of a team
•    The feel good factor!

We are looking for more volunteer therapists to join our welcoming team.  To volunteer with us you need to have been qualified and actively practicing for at least 2 years and have your own insurance and professional registration.  Volunteers commit to helping us for at least 3 hours on a weekly basis.  All complementary therapy volunteers also need to complete our two day specialist training in complementary therapies and cancer care – details of the 2020 training programme will be available soon.

So if you are an experienced therapist we would be really keen to hear from you.

Email us: volunteeringmvcc.enh-tr@nhs.net or call us on 0208 326 2515.

We look forward to hearing from you!
