Jubilee in the Park – huge success!

Posted on

It was very satisfying to see so many of you at our Jubilee event on 2nd June, it made all of the detailed planning, site visits and pure hard work worthwhile.

We kicked off the programme with 50s rock and 60s pop from Olde Skool a group of local musicians. The Polka Dots’ close harmony and dance routines were a hit with everyone. Then came Cuttlefish, three impressive young men who write their own material.  CJ Edwards band certainly got everyone up and dancing as promised, a superb performance rounded off with an audience singalong to ‘Sweet Caroline’. Yiewsley and West Drayton Brass Band completed the programme with popular classics and accompanied us in The National Anthem.

The Worshipful the Mayor of Hillingdon, Councillor Becky Haggar came hot-foot from the Civic Centre proclamation event to address our event, and the representative Deputy Lieutenant for Hillingdon, Bruce Houlder gave a closing speech.

Many thanks to our two comperes, who kept us entertained with the banter between acts, Lynne Halse and David Yarrow.

Here are a few photos, we’ll post more later – we welcome any photos that you care to send us.
